Seasonal Sundays (Week 25) Summer Sandwiches |
Welcome to Seasonal Sundays ...
Thank you for following Kitchen Parade, for checking in on these Sunday recipe collections. It means the world to be welcomed into your InBox and RSS readers and most of all, your kitchens. So thank you, thank you. And if you like this week's recipes, perhaps you'll share them with a friend or social circle?
So hey! How did this happen? Suddenly, it's the middle of May. Right. May. What????? You say it's already past the middle of June? No way! Calendar check, please! Wait!! Aw noooo. You are right. And day after tomorrow is what, Thanksgiving?
Arrrrrgh.
Does anyone else remember the exact moment when the passage of time became real? The year I turned nine, the neighbor girl (our favorite babysitter) was getting married! Such excitement, especially since my baby sister would be the flower girl. But ohhhh, it was soooo far away, all the way from Christmas until July. But then? Suddenly there we all were in the front yard in new dresses, taking pictures before the wedding. All those months between? Gone.
Happy Father's Day to all, the fathers, the grandfathers, the uncles, the kind man next door, all those who father us in their own ways imperfect, human ways. May the moments pass in slow motion, not in the blur of time ...
About the Photo By Popular Request, a Little Insight into the Top Image: I love photos that tell a story. And at least in my mind's eye, you can see three generations here, a grandfather, a son and three grandsons, the kids getting an early casting lesson. There are no fishing rods in sight, no cane poles but perhaps from the stances, the attention, the water in the background, you see this story too? It's one of my all-time favorite shots. Funny. At least four are of dads / granddads with kids / grands ...
May I Suggest ... a Link?
Let me just presume that if you're reading this, well, you're both a cook and a recipe collector. Don't the two kinda go together? And that means you tuck aside interesting recipes all over the place and then, dang, where is that chicken recipe that looked so good anyway? Here's an idea. Start a folder on your phone, call it "Kitchen Parade" or "Alanna" or whatever makes best sense to you. Then save the recipes you're most interested in right there in one place. Easy Peasy.

Thank you for taking a moment to write! I read each and every comment, for each and every recipe. If you have a specific question, it's nearly always answered quick-quick. But I also love hearing your reactions, your curiosity, even your concerns! When you've made a recipe, I especially love to know how it turned out, what variations you made, what you'll do differently the next time. ~ Alanna
